Hoodland Fire District #74 is hiring multiple Temporary Firefighter positions for the 2025 Fire Season

Position: Temporary Firefighter
Application Deadline: June 6, 2025
Duration: June 23, 2025 – October 3, 2025 (Tentative)
Pay Rate: $21.00 – $23.00 per hour (DOE)
Work Schedule: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with overtime pay for hours over 40 per week; schedule may vary based on fire risk and call volume.
Location: Welches, OR

Primary Duties:

• General maintenance and cleaning
• Special projects
• Fire and emergency response

Qualifications (Minimum)

• 18 years or older
• One year of fire service experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license (must be insurable)
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
• NFPA Firefighter Type 1
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
• Wildland Firefighter Type 2
• Oregon Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
• DPSST Driver or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• NFPA Driver/Operator
• NFPA Apparatus Equipped with Fire Pump
• Oregon Certified EMT
• Wildland Firefighter Type 1
• NFPA Operations Level Responder (HazMat)

• Oral interview
• Conditional offer
• Background check and firefighter physical
